Vinny Golia/Rich Halley Quartet

The Rich Halley/Vinny Golia Quartet will perform original music at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 24, at Taborspace, 5441 SE Belmont. Admission is a suggested donation of $10-$15 on a sliding scale. The quartet will include: Vinny Golia, reeds; Rich Halley, tenor sax, wood flute, percussion; Andre St James, bass; Carson Halley, drums.

Multi-instrumentalist Vinny Golia is one of the most influential creative musicians on the West Coast. As a composer, he fuses the rich heritage of Jazz, contemporary classical and world music into his own unique compositions. As a bandleader, Vinny has presented his music to audiences in Europe, Canada, Mexico, Japan and the United States in ensembles varying dramatically in size and instrumentation. He has won numerous awards as a composer, including grants from the National Endowment of the Arts, The Lila Wallace Program, The California Arts Council, Meet the Composer, and the American Composers Forum.

Rich Halley is a saxophonist and composer based on Oregon. His 11 recordings as a leader have been critically acclaimed in the jazz press, and his groups have performed at concerts, festivals and clubs in the U.S. and Canada. His most recent recording is the just-released  "Live at the Penofin Jazz Festival." Rich is a founder of the Creative Music Guild and the musical director of the Penofin Jazz Festival.
